Some, not all, campsites at burn events are known as Theme Camps. Theme camps have been described as the “interactive core” of festivals like Infusion.
What is a theme camp? “A campsite which artistically presents an idea or concept and is designed to be interactive with participants.” (1) Theme Camps turn the entire venue into a stage, or a potential social or artistic hotspot. Using their powers of creativity and self expression, groups of campers set up temporary structures in which they live and camp, and which also interacts with other attendees. Although some theme camps are very elaborate, the object is not a show of personal wealth or extravagance, but one of radical self expression.
